The “Cannot Group” message in Vectric software appears when the selected objects cannot be combined into a single group. Grouping lets you manipulate multiple objects as one unit, but certain conditions can prevent it.

Common Reasons:

  • You are in Node Editing mode instead of standard selection mode.
  • The selected objects are not compatible vectors.
  • The vectors themselves have issues such as zero-length spans.
  • The objects are already part of an existing group with complex sub-groups, which may limit further grouping.

How to Resolve:

  1. Exit Node Editing mode and return to normal selection.
  2. Use the Vector Validator tool to detect invalid vectors.
  3. Clean up unnecessary vector segments.
  4. Test grouping with a small set of simple vectors to identify whether the problem is with specific objects.

By ensuring vectors are clean and you’re in the correct mode, grouping should work properly. For more detailed guidance, consult the Vectric documentation.
